Map and Compass Day
This practical course concentrates on micro navigation techniques such as Map types Scale, Timing, Pacing, Distance estimation, Contour interpretation, Re-location, Route planning, Route choice. An ideal opportunity for you to gain in confidence in the use of the map and compass.
Dates: By arrangement for groups of 3 or more.
Fee: £60 inc. VAT per person.
Venue: around the hills of Newtonmore.
Night Navigation
Learn the skills needed to navigate in the dark, or in poor visibility. Navigating your way when the mist comes down, or it is getting dark can be challenging. Planning to walk in the dark is great fun if you have the skills to navigate safely. This evening course is designed for people who have basic map and compass navigation skills, and want to learn more advanced techniques proceeding to Mountain Training Award assessment course
