About me
Eric Grindle, has recently taken early retirement from his role of a principle officer within Children’s Services to establish himself as a full time Coach specialising in Outdoor Education and swimming. In his role at Children’s Services, Eric had responsibility for the Youth Service, Education Visits and represented the authority on the Outdoor Education Advisers panel. Eric has been working in the field of Outdoor Education (Mountaineering, climbing and paddlesport) within an informal education setting since the late 1970s. In that time he has gained a wealth of experience with youth groups of all ages and abilities.
His personal experiences have taken him across Europe, Africa and the Himalaya. His work has taken him to all corners of the UK and a range of venues in Europe, North and South Africa, India and Kashmir.
He is qualified to deliver training in risk management and Learning Outside the Classroom INSET’s via the Outdoor Education Advisors Panel,; he can also deliver Assessor and Supervisor training for staff working on the D of Ed Award.
Eric is professionally qualified as a youth worker, has a Masters Degree is Social Policy and remains current in his professional training through CPDs delivered by FPM. Alongside other OAS Staff Eric attends and maintains CPD status with the MT, BCU and IoS, he also attends training offered by professional bodies including BMC, MTA, IfOL and IoS (Institute of Swimming) and in house staff development days.

Eric is a member of the BMC, BCU, IoS and Greater Manchester’s Coaching register. Eric along with other OAS Staff attends seminars and training offered by professional bodies including BMC, MTA, AMI Traineer Member, IfOL, NICAS, BCU and in-house staff development days. Eric has been working for Outdoor Activities Service and Alternative Adventure for over 14 years now.
Eric continues to explore new areas and develop his outdoor skills.
